Yes, today was a very emotional day for the pupils of H3 (Hillary – year 8, Christchurch South Intermediate). Saying goodbye to classmates with many students going to different schools was obviously the catalyst for the flood gates to open. Parents, myself included stood respectfully outside the classroom and we discussed how sobbing girls would come out of the classroom and then go back in again and continue.
Of course the House Leaders, Amelia and Julius, went forward during the assembly to receive the House Trophy. There had been slide shows; principal address; singing and Amelia and Julius presenting the review of two years at South. Then they came outside, the year 7’s standing for the year 8’s, and this is what happened. No wonder there was so much emotion.
